| Use | 5-(4-phenyl formate)-1H-tetrazole is an organic intermediate, which can be prepared from 4-cyanobenzoic acid. There are reports that it can be used to prepare autocrine motility factor inhibitors. |
| preparation | sodium azide (0.11mol, 7.15g) and ammonium chloride (0.11mol, 5.88g) are dissolved in 100 mL of anhydrous DMF. Stir the solution at room temperature for 30 minutes. 4-cyanobenzoic acid (0.1mol,14.71g) was added to the solution under stirring. The mixture was then refluxed at 120°C for 18-20 hours under stirring. After cooling to room temperature, the solution was acidified with 200mL of hydrochloric acid ml(1M) solution under stirring. The white precipitate formed by filtration was washed with a continuous aliquent of distilled water (3 x 25 mL). The resulting product was recrystallized in anhydrous acetone (yield 90%,13.23g). |
